Iron Supplement Concentration Changes
Enfamil Fer-In-Sol, an over-the-counter iron supplement for infants, children, and adults, has been reformulated to provide 15 mg of elemental iron in 1 mL. Previously, 0.6 mL provided the 15 mg dose. The new medicine dropper is marked at 0.5 mL (7.5 mg) and 1 mL (15 mg) to allow for dosing consistency with other products. Enfamil Fer-In-Sol is a milk-free, soy-free, peanutfree, lactose-free, gluten-free, and kosher iron supplement. It is important that people receive an adequate amount of iron, either through regular dietary intake or through supplementation, to prevent anemia and adverse effects on growth, behavior, intestinal function, immunity, and energy metabolism.
